You just have to find the things that best fit your business needs. You can even do a trial and error to determine which tactics work and which tactics do not work. Once you find the tactic that works, rinse and repeat those steps.
Here are a few ideas that you can use to attract people to your yoga studio.
- Promotions
- Advertising & Marketing
- Referrals
- Social Media
- Community Events
Some people have wondered precisely what yoga is and why they should embrace it. Each day you will come across at least one person who has either never heard of yoga or has thought about joining but was unsure if they would like it.
Promotional Ideas
Promotions are one of the main ways to attract people to your yoga classes. There are so many ideas for promotions. There are two different types of clients. Those who have practiced yoga before and those who have never given it a try.
So how do you promote an idea to someone who has never heard of or tried yoga? When promoting a new idea, service, or product you have to learn your target market’s pain points. These pain points are what we call the problem and your service has the answer to those pain points.
There are four types of customer pain points: productivity, financial, process, and support. How will your studio solve these problems? What process can you teach your students to learn and stay motivated? What kind of support system do you have in place for your yoga students? Will the prices of your classes be affordable and reasonable? How do the techniques you teach help your students fill productive?
After the first of January, all gyms see their memberships skyrocket. This is because people are trying to fulfill their “New Year’s Resolution”. You can offer a weight loss challenge to attract people to your yoga classes. This does not have to just be around the first of the year. This can be something you may decide to do numerous times during the year. You can do a get fit for summer weight loss challenge. Another idea for a weight loss challenge is make sure you can button jeans for the holidays.
Another great idea may be to have a bring a friend to class day. This will allow new people to check out your class and not feel alone because they have someone with them they know in the class. You may even decide to collaborate with another wellness professional to see if they would be willing to teach a class in your studio.

Advertising & Marketing Ideas
Advertising and marketing are imperative to attracting new clients to your business. You can get as creative as you like when it comes to advertising. You can place an advertisement on a billboard, the radio, or even the television.
Another option for advertisement is to put flyers up on bulletin boards throughout the community. They may be a bulletin board at the local coffee shop that they allow you to put up a flyer. There are bulletin boards at community centers and local churches.
Have you ever heard of cross-marketing? This is a really neat way to advertise. Cross marketing is where you partner up with another local business and you both promote the other company in your business.
For example, let’s say you go to your favorite spot to eat for lunch and you have developed a relationship with the owner. You may ask the owner if he/she would allow you to put up some referral cards, on the back of the referral card you tell him/her to make sure they stamp the business name on the card so you know the referral came from this establishment.
In return, you may decide to offer to use this restaurant for all catering needs for your yoga events. So when you have a customer appreciation day or when you host a seminar for new people to learn more about your yoga studio, you will have the restaurant’s food and services at your seminar. This opens up windows for both businesses.
Referral Ideas
Referrals are always fun and an easy way to get new clients in your class. How often do you tell someone about a product you use and how much you enjoy it? Or about the restaurant that you ate at over the weekend with your family that you tried for the first time? Every time you talk about your favorite product or your favorite restaurant you are setting up referrals for those businesses.
It’s the same concept with your yoga classes. You want everyone to know about the services you provide and how much you enjoy teaching. This one should be the easiest, but it’s always the hardest and that is to ask family and friends to help with referrals. This is because is our human nature to be afraid of rejection.
So, how do you ask a family member or a friend for a referral? Simple actually. You have to position your question as a favor. Keep it short, and don’t make it about you when asking for this favor. Your favor may look something like this. “Hey Sally, can you do me a favor, if anyone asks you about a good yoga studio send them my way. I’m looking to help as many people as I can.”
Another great opportunity is to have a referral program in place for your current students. Your referral program needs to offer something back to the student. It could be a free yoga class, a discount for the following month, or a gift such as a free t-shirt.
Social Media Ideas
Social media is the new way of doing things and has taken over the planet. It is impossible to scroll through FaceBook or Instagram and not see an advertisement for a business. Now there is a new feature where business profiles are popping up that are in your area.
You shouldn’t just think of social media as a promotional tool, but also as a way to serve your community and your audience. Yes, social media can help you to attract new people to your yoga classes. However, it is how you use social media that will determine how people see you and your business.
There are so many ideas that you can use on social media for attraction. Something as simple as giving free tips on your business page gives people an insight into what you have to offer. Reels are very popular on FaceBook and Instagram. You may even decide to show a simple yoga move that is sometimes done incorrectly. You can even go live and give a free class to those who cannot get out of their home.
Community Events Ideas
Being involved with the community is everything and plays a great part in attracting people to your yoga classes. There are a few things that allow you to participate in the community. You can participate in events already being hosted within the community or even host your own event.
It’s always good to stay up to date with the festivities going on in your community. For example, if there is a festival coming to town you can open a booth to teach a class or techniques. Maybe you decide to help out with the concession stand, but pass out cups with your business logo on the cup.
What about the holiday season? I know in my community, once the end of September rolls around, you start seeing the Halloween decorations come up. So many businesses put on events for children. The city puts on a trunk or treat for Halloween and the businesses all come together to give the children treats. They even dress up and one business set up a haunted house in the parking lot.
If your community puts on a Christmas parade, you can create a float, or just use your vehicle to drive through, and just give back to the community. Businesses that give back and serve their community always attract new business. You can even have your yoga students do a fun routine in the parade if you choose.
